After shooting the "mountains" of ice, I opted for some closer shots. This is a beach groin:



And this, oddly enough, was funky patterns made by the wind. The weight of the blown sand on top of the new fallen snow kept some of that new snow in place while the wind blew away much of the same, creating these really cool little featurettes. I've never seen these anywhere else:




Same groin, different feel. Ah, I forgot, the groins are there to prevent beach erosion. The holes in them are round when they are manufacterd. Oddly, this hole was almost heart shaped. Perhaps it was because I shot this on/near Valentine's Day:
