After the summer people go, the beach swings come down and the 'sand' fences go up. These fences are an important part of dune stabilization. If you are local you know that the beaches really start to move with the Gales of November, causing drifts of sand 4 -6 feet deep on the roads. Beach erosion and stabilization is never ending.
